A middle-aged man who went on a rant accusing his wife of cheating on him allegedly murdered her in cold blood before committing suicide.
Evans Kosgei spent weeks complaining that his wife, Jackline Kimaiyo, was cheating on him with two other men.
Evans Kosgei killed his wife and later committed suicide in Thika. His body was found dangling from a tree on Monday, March 11, authorities said.
He was discovered with his deceased lover Jackline Jerop Kimaiyo's identification card and a suicide note implying that he shared responsibility for her murder.
Evans is suspected of killing his wife in Mathira, Nyeri county, as part of a love triangle tragedy.
Before committing the fatal crime, Kosgei had spent weeks posting cryptic tweets, berating his wife, publishing images of her supposed infidelity, and even openly naming the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and other leading media stations.
Evans narrated their life before their marital woes began; he explained that they were high school sweethearts and that her family had disowned her after she got pregnant.
He narrated: "We started dating way back in high school. She was in Anin Girls in Elgeyo Marakwet and I was in Kimoning Boys in Uasin Gishu county that was in 2016. She later joined Murang'a University and later graduated. In between, she gave birth to my little princess and I had to relocate from home completely so that I could take care of my kid and her to continue with studies without any problems."
"I used to work at night as a night guard during the day I take care of the kid as she goes to school. We agreed to be a husband and wife since we had a kid together. We lived a smooth life without problems until this year January when I got a certain job."
Kimaiyo's body has been transported from Karatina Hospital Mortuary to Elgeyo Marakwet, and the funeral is scheduled for later this week.
Police are currently investigating both killings and claimed suicides.
