Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the cabinet secretary for the Interior, has stressed the importance of the National Police Reservists (NPR) in protecting Kenyans' lives and property in areas where banditry is a concern.
According to Prof. Kindiki, NPR officers will lead the government's future initiatives to stop cattle rustling and banditry in the North Rift region.
Speaking at the 136 new NPRs' graduation ceremony at Lotiki in Isiolo, the CS stated that all of the recruits are young people from the area familiar with their particular areas' routes and topography.
He pointed out that this puts them in the best possible position to spearhead the fight against banditry in the area, including cattle rustling.
