President William Ruto is set to assent the Affordable Housing Bill into law this morning to pave the way for the return of housing levy deductions.
Speaking in Trans Mara on Sunday, Ruto affirmed yet again that he will be signing into law the bill that was passed by both chambers of parliament in concurrence.
The Senate and the National Assembly passed the bill last week, and amendments were introduced to it, including bringing county governments into the fold.
Through public involvement, governors had previously expressed concerns about why the federal government is implementing the housing program but that the role is being devolved.
Governors will now establish County liaison committees to supervise the program's execution.

While in Kilgoris, the president reaffirmed that the nation's economy is on a promising trajectory and expressed the government's eagerness to commit to roads and other development projects.
“Mwaka jana tulikuwa na shida sana; sasa leo nawahakikishia kuwa mwaka huu ndio mtaona maendeleo tukliwaambia,” Ruto said.
President Ruto, Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu, and several members of parliament were in Ildolisho village in Kilgoris constituency for the thanksgiving ceremony of Tourism Principal Secretary John Ololtuaa.
Governor Ntutu led leaders from the region to call for an enhanced road network in Trans Mara, with President William Ruto promising to have major highways tarmacked, including the Kilgoris-Mariwa road as well as the Lolgorian-Kilgoris road.
