Two people have been taken into custody by Bomet police about the booing and heckling that occurred on Saturday of last week during a presidential function in the county.

On Tuesday, Bomet County Commissioner Ahmed Omar told the media that the two were apprehended in their hiding places and are being questioned by security personnel.

According to Omar, the police are looking for three other people known to be involved.

"We are not sparing anyone on this. The Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki was clear concerning the financiers and politicians who orchestrated the ugly scene; we are summoning even elected leaders so long as they are suspected to be part of the organizers," added the County Commissioner.

On Saturday, President Ruto's tour of Bomet was marred by chaos as some locals publicly heckled Governor Hilary Barchok.

The agitated Head of State lectured the people for jeering the county executive and demanded discipline and order.

Ruto encouraged rowdy citizens to exercise patience and use their voting power in the upcoming election to hold ineffective leaders accountable.

One day prior, Governor Dr. Erick Mutai was heckled as he stood to speak to the assembly during the President's visit to Kericho.

Since then, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the Interior Cabinet Secretary, has demanded that anyone caught heckling at a political event be taken into custody and prosecuted.

In a statement issued on Monday during a tour of Kericho County, Kindiki directed security services to act quickly to quell disturbances during political gatherings.
