A viral video of Kahawa hawkers washing their hands and feet in the cooking pan they use to prepare kahawa has left kenyans online with mixed feelings.
Three unnamed males can be seen hunched at a corner in what looks to be a shantytown, preparing what appears to be coffee - but with their bare hands.
One man and two other men squat over the boiling pot and alternate between pouring more 'kahawa' into it and stirring it with their bare hands.
The third man, partially disguised, is seen continually stirring the pot with his bare hands before momentarily raising his palm to his face, stunning the filming observers.
Towards the film's end, the man who was first seen smoking bends over to pour additional beverage from a brown thermos into the boiling pot; five thermos flasks are lying around.
The witnesses and recorders were left in shock, unable to fathom the nature of Kahawa, which is routinely peddled to naive Kenyans in Nairobi estates.
Kenyans on social media were outraged and made fun of the situation.
"Unashindwa mbona kahawa inaslap hivyo kumbe ni secret ingredients," one user said.
Another one said, "This is why, despite how much I empathize with these vendors, I hardly buy/ eat their food. In this category, factor in smokey, mayai pasua and samosa merchants. No offense to them though..."
