The Chief Justice(CJ) Martha Koome has gazetted the appointment of Winfridah Mokaya as Chief Registrar of the Judiciary (CRJ) effective March 18.
Koome, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), formalized the appointment in a Gazette Notice dated March 19, circulated on Saturday.
Mokaya was among seven candidates interviewed by a panel led by Koome.
Others included Macharia Rose Wachuka, currently serving as Chief Justice Martha Koome’s Chief of Staff, and Ndemo Paul Maina, the Deputy CRJ who assumed the role in an acting capacity following the exit of former CRJ Anne Amadi in January.
The panel also interviewed Ouma Jack Busalile, Wambeti Ann Ireri, Kendagor Caroline Jepyegen, and Kandet Kennedy Lenkamai.

The Commission listed the candidates after considering forty-three applications.
The Commission selected the seven after examining the applications against the legal and constitutional conditions outlined.
JSC had invited the public to avail, in writing, any information of interest on any of the shortlisted candidates.
Amadi served for 10 years since January 2014 have secured another term.
