The Public Service Commission (PSC) has directed all Ministries, State Departments, and State Corporations or Agencies to cut down on their expenditure immediately.

According to a circular, the Head of PSC, Felix Koskei, directed the said offices to optimize their operations by rationalizing all non-priority expenditures in line with guidelines issued by the National Treasury.

Following this, procurement, printing, and production of corporate wear, including t-shirts, shirts, tracksuits, and branded clothing, have been suspended.

Additionally, Koskei suspended the purchase of promotional items.

“Suspend and immediately cease the purchase of promotional merchandise such as calendars, diaries, umbrellas, power banks, key holders, bags, flasks, cups, branded traditional blankets (shukas) and notebooks,” he said.

All departments have been directed to implement austerity measures to protect social development spending fully.
