The distribution of counterfeit fertilizers has ignited controversy, prompting leaders to urge President William Ruto to take action against those involved in the scam.
According to a report featured in Tuesday's edition of The Standard, Member of Parliament for Nyeri Town, Dancan Mathenge, is now calling on President William Ruto to issue an executive order for the arrest of individuals responsible for distributing fake fertilizers.
He has called for an investigation into KEBS, the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Cereals and Produce Board, and other entities linked to the distribution of fertilizers.
It should be noted that President William Ruto has not yet issued a statement regarding the matter, despite previously vowing to address corruption within his Kenya Kwanza government.
Fertilizer scandals have become a recurrent problem that has affected agricultural sectors globally in recent years. These scandals hurt farmers, crop production, and food security because they involve the provision of inferior or fake fertilizers.
