The burial of a 100-year-old man will have to wait after a court order delaying the burial over family wrangles.
The court ordered that the remains be released to the second family for burial at the Lairangi Mumui region in Meru County and that the orders be served on Meru OCD to guarantee compliance.
However, the first family requested the court to delay its ruling so that they may appeal.

In the case, Grace Rigiri, the man's first wife, went to court and won an injunction halting the burial, claiming that she was married to the late and that he should be buried at her house in Embu County.
Similarly, the second family, via the wife Sarah Kathambi, claims that the late parted from the first wife over 40 years ago; thus, she has no right to claim that they lived together as husband and wife.
She stated that she was married to the late and that he should be buried at her house in Embu County.
“For 40 years, the deceased’s message was loud and clear that he had no business, relationship with the 1st Applicant nor was he intending to go back. Just like the biblical term of 40 years when the Israelites were in the wilderness, the deceased cannot be taken back to where he left, he has reached his Canaan where he wants to be buried and therefore we seek to have his wishes respected,” Kathambi submits.
While speaking to the media, the second family begged the first family to accept the court's judgment and join to give their late father a proper send-off.
