The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership has condemned an incident where unknown people attacked Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah's rural house.
According to reports, unknown goons attacked the homestead, searching for the senator's whereabouts.

ODM has consequently urged prompt investigations into the event, saying it poses a significant threat to Kenyan authorities.

"Every Kenyan including leaders must be guaranteed their safety at all times. We call on the government to move quickly and investigate the claims," ODM said.
Omtatah described the event, stating that the intruders hounded his relatives for almost an hour, demanding further information regarding his whereabouts.
"We do not know who those people were but we suspect they were in the compound for some time because they claimed they knew the compound very well. I left home on Tuesday evening after a series of functions only to be called at 2 am to be told there were people in my compound looking for me," he told The Star.
"I do not meet anyone at night. Those who want to see me know they can see me during official working hours but not at night."
The senator also noted that he was not home then because he had traveled to nairobi.
“I was told at around 3:00 am by my brother, who I stay in the same compound with, that his wife was accosted by a group of men who demanded to know where I was,” Omtatah stated.
“They beat her up and kept pacing around the compound shouting they will kill her.” he added.
Local police officers who visited the house are examining the scene.
