On Sunday, the notorious Nithi bridge blackspot on the Meru-Embu highway claimed the lives of four people when a Kensilver bus headed for Nairobi struck it.
Zacchaeus Ng'eno, the commander of Tharaka Nithi County Police, reported that the deceased consisted of a minor, one male passenger, and two female passengers.
Hospitals in Chuka and Chogoria have admitted eight additional passengers who sustained significant injuries in the Sunday afternoon collision.
According to the head of police, the accident's cause is yet unknown.
