Police on Wednesday recovered 2, 658 rounds of ammunition from the home of one Josphat Maina Karanja within the Minjore area, Kirima Sub-County in Laikipia.
The owner, Josphat Karanja was also arrested with his wife Teresiah Wairimu, during the raid.
This comes a few months after police in Makueni County on Wednesday recovered Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) uniforms and ammunition from a private residence in Ndovoine village, Mtito Andei.
The seized items include a Jungle ground sheet, two pairs of jungle trousers, one Kenya army jungle jacket, an African Union Arm Band, a jungle belt, a force color lanyard, a jungle pouch, one passport photo, and a water clipper.
According to police, the recovery followed an incident report filed by the area Assistant Chief.
“The items were taken to station pending investigation,” read the police report.
Authorities have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the presence of military items in the civilian domain.
