The funeral for General Francis Omondi Ogolla, the Chief of Defense Forces (PDF) of Kenya, will take place at his residence in Mor Village, Siaya County today.
In a plane disaster that happened on Thursday, April 18, 2024 in Sindar Area, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Ogolla, the first CDF to die in office since independence, passed away.
Along with the General on an official tour of a bandit-infested part of the North Rift, nine other officers perished in the crash.
As per the "Tonje Rules," a rotating system that controls the choice of the CDF, President William Ruto named Ogolla Kenya's military chief on April 28, 2023.
