A medic, Mohamed Abdi Ali, aka Abu Fidaa, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being found guilty of being a member of the ISIS terror group.
Magistrate Martha Mutuku, while sentencing Fidaa on Monday, said that she has considered the eight years the convict has been in prison.
The medical intern was found guilty of linking youths with other ISIS fighters in Libya.
He was found to have been planning to establish an ISIS caliphate in Kenya and the East African region at large back in 2016.
The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) also said the suspect was found guilty of having articles related to terror activities.
Fidaa had been charged alongside one Nuseibah Mohammed Hajji alias Umm Fidaa, who was acquitted on April 12, 2024, for lack of sufficient evidence.
