The country has been experiencing heavy rainfall and flooding in the past few days, leading to the loss of lives and the destruction of millions of dollars in properties. Residents have been left in the cold while officials advise those affected to seek shelter on higher grounds.

On the other hand, Machakos County emergency operations workers evacuated people from the Syokimau Phase 2 estate after heavy rains submerged their homes.

Machakos Governor, Wavinya Ndeti, who despatched her Roads, Public Works, and Housing minister, Rita Ndunge, and the county head of staff, Lawrence Ngovi, stated that the county government will give food, bedding, and other necessities to the affected families camped at Kinanie Primary School.

Floods washed away household belongings for dozens of people in areas of the Kinanie and Syokimau 360 estates.

Athi River Deputy County Commissioner Patrick Mwangi, speaking separately, asked flood-affected villagers to evacuate their homes to avoid calamity.
