Four bodies of suspected flood victims have been retrieved from Mathare River following heavy rains in Nairobi on Tuesday evening.

Confirming the incident, Starehe Sub-county Police Commander Fred Abuga said the four include two men and two women.

Further, he stated that six other people remain unaccounted for as a search operation continues in Mathare.

Additionally, Abuja said that more than six people were reported missing on Tuesday morning following the heavy downpour that hit the city and its environs last evening.

The joint rescue mission is being led by Nairobi County Government and the Kenya Red Cross.

Meanwhile, 18 people, including 11 adults and 7 children, have been rescued by Kenya Red Cross Action Team in Mradi, Mathare 4A after being stranded due to floodwaters caused by heavy rains last night in Nairobi.
