Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, the deputy principal of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), has called for transparency in the upcoming party grassroots elections.

Hosting party officials at his official residence in Karen on Wednesday night, Gachagua said they deliberated on holding credible elections, noting that "it is the only way to determine the strength of the ruling UDA for years to come."

Members in attendance include Cecily Mbarire, Secretary-General Cleophas Malala, Vice-Chairman Hassan Omar, Organising Secretary Vincent Musyoka Kawaya, Treasurer Japheth Nyakundi, Executive Director Nicodemus Bore, and other senior officials.

The election will occur in four phases: 26 April, 22 June, 10 August, and 24 August.

Anthony Mwaura, the KRA Board Chairperson, has been appointed Chairperson of the National Elections Board, with Veronica Kiberenge serving as Vice Chairperson.

Lydia Munika, Jimmy Kaingi, Mary Mutinga, Halake Dida, and Linda Kiome have also been appointed members.

Elections in Nyanza have been halted following the tragic death of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Francis Ogolla.
