The government, in partnership with Cisco, has opened a cybersecurity technology experience center at the University of Nairobi, Chiromo Campus.
The Principal Secretary of the State Department for ICT, Kipchumba Tanui, Cisco Executive Vice President Francine Katsoudas, and the University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor, Kiama Gitahi, launched the Hub on Friday.
Speaking during the launch, Tanui said the center will offer cybersecurity training and awareness, including courses from the CISCO Networking Academy.
“The Experience Center is part of CISCO’s Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) initiative in Kenya and will offer cyber security training and awareness, including courses from CISCO Networking Academy, one of the World’s longest-running IT skills-to-jobs programs,” he said.
According to the PS, the facility will act as an earning center and showcase the latest technological advancements and solutions.
“This state-of-the-art facility not only provides comprehensive cybersecurity training but also serves as a platform to showcase the latest technological solutions. It aims to cultivate national talent in entrepreneurship, cybersecurity & digital technology.”
Additionally, the PS is positive that the center will play a critical role in creating job opportunities in the digital market and thus drive economic metamorphosis.“
“Cisco’s Edge Innovate program fosters innovation to drive economic growth through the creation of jobs, while Cisco’s Edge Educate program empowers communities through technology & education,” he stated.
