Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has donated Ksh.2 million to the Kenya Red Cross Society to assist people impacted by the ongoing floods, which are wreaking havoc and claiming lives nationwide.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Uhuru stated that the funds will give relief and necessary help to flood victims. He also sent his thoughts and prayers to the flood victims, urging Kenyans to stand in solidarity.
"The relentless rainfall has caused significant damage, displacing families, destroying infrastructure, and claiming precious lives. During this time of profound loss and despair, my thoughts and prayers are with the affected communities as they cope with the aftermath of this natural disaster," said the former Head of State.
“As a nation, we must stand together in the face of adversity, demonstrating compassion, resilience, and solidarity with one another,” he noted.
Uhuru also advised Kenyans to avoid flood-prone regions and relocate to higher ground during the tragedy.
He went on to urge healthcare providers to care for the injured flood victims despite the ongoing strike, emphasising the need of communication in resolving their demands.
"Together, let us navigate through these difficult times, emerging stronger, more resilient, and more united than ever before," said Uhuru.
