Part of the Embu-Meru highway has been closed after cracks developed in the Ikong'u bridge in Kiagima, Embu West sub-county, suspected to have been caused by the ongoing heavy rains.
The soil in one area of the busy bridge began to cave in, resulting in a breach that forced the route to be closed and traffic redirected.
Embu County Police Commander Nicholas Maina encouraged vehicles on the highway to follow traffic police advice for other routes.
