Due to Tuesday night's intense rains, at least three roads in the Nairobi Metropolis have been partially closed, and traffic has been rerouted.

According to a statement by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), police were assisting with traffic redirection after Enterprise Road, Eastern Bypass, and Thika Bypass were closed to vehicles.

"In the face of the heavy rains experienced last night across the country, our dedicated team at KeNHA has been working tirelessly. The following roads within Nairobi & Kiambu Counties have been heavily affected leading to partial closure: Enterprise road, Eastern bypass and Thika bypass. The traffic police and our technical team are on the ground to direct traffic and enhance the safety of Motorists. We shall keep you posted as the situation unfolds," KeNHA said, demonstrating their commitment to public safety.

Another video clip circulated online showed Mbagathi Way completely flooded, blocking traffic to the T-Mall intersection.

The heavy rains that have continued to batter most of the country left drivers and other road users stranded for hours near Kenyatta University on the busy Thika Superhighway.

Elsewhere, a seasonal river in the area burst its banks, leaving six people stranded in their houses and needing rescue by the Kenya Red Cross in Kitengela.

In a 7 a.m. update, the Kenya Red Cross promptly announced that it was still looking for additional individuals in the Deliverance Road, Blessed Court, New Valley, Changombe, Balozi Road, Baraka Road, and KAG areas, ensuring the public that they are not alone in this crisis.

The rescue mission started around 4 a.m. The humanitarian organization released footage of homesteads completely submerged in water, with rescue workers wading into the compounds while others traveled in boats to reach the heavily flooded estates.
