First Lady Rachel Ruto distributed food to more than 1,000 households in Kibra Constituency on Wednesday that are impacted by the ongoing flooding.

The most vulnerable members of society—women and children in particular—are disproportionately affected by the natural disasters that have devastated some areas of the country.

The Chandaria Foundation, the National Government, and the Office of the First Lady worked together to organize the food donation campaign.

The First Lady went on to reiterate that the government is committed to giving flood-affected Kenyans food, clothing, and shelter.

She was accompanied by Davidson Ngibuini, MCA of the Woodley Kenyatta Golf Course ward; Njoroge Muchiri, Deputy Governor of Nairobi County; Esther Passaris, Women Representative, Nairobi County; and Peninah Malonza, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of EAC, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, and Regional Development.

In addition, Mrs. Ruto asked Kenyans to show empathy for their countrymen who might be impacted by the country's prolonged, heavy rains and flooding.
