Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mithika Linturi was apprehended and transported to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters for questioning shortly after facing impeachment by MPs.

This action came in response to a recommendation from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) for the arrest and prosecution of CS Linturi and his Principal Secretary Paul Ronoh regarding their involvement in the counterfeit fertilizer scandal.

These two, alongside five other senior officials from the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), were summoned but allegedly failed to appear as required on Friday.

This development coincides with the anticipation nationwide for President William Ruto's address to the nation scheduled for 1 pm.

On May 2nd, Statehouse announced that Ruto would address the nation today, although the topic of discussion was not disclosed.

Speculation is rampant, with some suggesting that the address will tackle the flood situation in the country, while others claim that a cabinet reshuffle is imminent.

Following his impeachment by 149 MPs yesterday, Mithika Linturi's future now rests with the committee tasked with investigating him over the scandal.
