As part of National Tree Growing Day celebrations, Friday, May 10, has been gazetted as a public holiday.
A notice obtained by Citizen Digital also states that the day will be observed in remembrance of Kenyans lost to the country's floods.
Prior to this, Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura stated on his X account, "A notice will be published in the gazette to this effect. To provide additional guidance, Hon. Soipan Tuya, Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change, will hold a press conference today."
