Two suspected robbers narrowly escaped death after angry residents descended on them for allegedly trying to break into the car of a man they had been tailing from a bank.
Locals revealed that the two suspects had surreptitiously followed a businessman who had purportedly taken money from a bank in Thika down to Kitengela to rob him.

The suspects, who were in a vehicle, are claimed to have followed the businessman to a restaurant in the Chennai neighborhood of Kitengela.
The businessman parked his car and then went into a restaurant to eat.
One of the suspects went to the businessman's car, broke the car window, and tried to steal the money. A security guard at the restaurant saw the break-in and alerted the public.
Angry locals attacked the two suspects, leaving them for dead.
Police from Kitengela station were dispatched to the area and had a tough time rescuing the accused from a crowd that was threatening to execute them.
According to the police, the suspects were found with a variety of weapons, four identification cards, and five mobile phones, among other things.
The two accused were escorted to Kitengela police station to be arraigned in court.
