Ian Njoroge, the man accused of brutally assaulting a traffic police officer in Mirema, has been charged with robbery with violence, assault inflicting severe bodily injury, and resisting arrest.
His lawyer, Duncan Okatch, wanted his client to be released on bail because he was a student. He will appear before Magistrate BenMark.
According to sources, once Njoroge is charged with the criminal charges, he will be hauled to traffic court and charged with three further counts.

Njoroge was caught at his residence in the Jacaranda district of Kayole, Nairobi, on Sunday evening as part of a DCI-led investigation.
The horrific event was reported to the Kasarani police station, with authorities acquainted with the issue revealing that the traffic officer was receiving treatment for injuries incurred during the attack.
According to the police report, the motorist was stopped at 8 a.m. on Sunday for impeding Mirema Drive.
