Kenyan MPs have voted yes to the 2024 finance bill despite protests in major cities across the country, which opposed it and deemed it punitive.

The MPs voted 204 yes and 115 No, and the bill now moves to the amendments stage in the Committee of the Whole House, where the bill will be read for the second time.
