The member of parliament for Turkana Central, Joseph Namuar, has apologized to his constituents for voting yes for the contentious finance bill 2024.

Namuar, a staunch United Democratic Party (UDA) adherent, stated that President William Ruto's decision not to sign the Bill into law has opened the door for conversation.

He also appealed to his constituents for mercy after voting to enact the Bill, which provoked violent riots and resulted in protester fatalities.

"I laud him for the leadership he has exhibited today to show Kenyans that he can listen to their views. If there is a way we did wrong for those of us who voted YES we ask for your forgiveness," he said.

"Also as your (President Ruto) footsoldiers, we ask for forgiveness on your behalf."
