Police officers have launched an investigation into the death of a 41-year-old man after a fire incident.
James Nyaga, 41, perished after a fire destroyed his home in Mirichi village, Njuki-ini, Gichugu Constituency, Kirinyaga County
Police said the incident was reported by family members, headed by his mother Margaret Wakarii.

“The deceased was burnt beyond recognition as efforts to put out the fire bore no fruit,” the family said.
According to other accounts, the deceased and his estranged wife had domestic troubles and fled their marital house following a quarrel.
“We urge police officers to conduct thorough investigations into the incident,” Peter Mugo, an elder, noted.
Gichugu police chief Johnson Wachira noted that Nyaga's wife would also be present as part of the investigation.
The deceased's remains have been transferred to the Kerugoya Hospital mortuary while investigations continue.
