Police have arrested 14 people implicated in the theft and destruction of property of Molo sub-county Member of Parliament Kuria Kimani during the nationwide anti-finance Bill 2024 protests last week.
According to Molo Sub-County Police Commander (SCPC) Timon Odingo, authorities have successfully recovered some stolen property.
Further, he revealed that the search is ongoing until all culprits are brought to book.
“Among the items recovered are four cows out of the seven that were reported missing, with one already slaughtered. Additionally, various household items including duvets, tables, chairs, electronics and a printer have been recovered as well,” he said.
Odingo warned that the police will not spare rogue politicians found to be involved in inciting youths and x instigating the chaos that led to the theft and subsequent protests.

“We suspect that the theft and subsequent disturbances were orchestrated by political interests. Our investigation is ongoing, and we are committed to bringing all perpetrators to book, regardless of their status,” he said.
The situation escalated when protesters from Nakuru and other areas joined the demonstrations, turning what initially seemed like peaceful protests into destruction of property.
He cautioned against the escalation of violence and looting, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and order in the region during such occurrences.
“We commend the initial peaceful protests by Gen Z but regret the infiltration by outsiders that resulted in violence and damage to property,” said Odingo.
“Anyone found looting or participating in the destruction of property will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” he warned.
Additionally, he urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities and assuring the community of ongoing efforts to stabilize the situation and prevent further unrest.
The 14 suspects are set to be arraigned in court to face charges related to theft and vandalism.
