A lady from Kirinyaga has been detained for burning down her brother's house in Kiawakara village, Kirinyaga Central constituency.

Irene Waithera is being arrested at Kerugoya police station after being confronted by furious locals who accused her of threatening to kill her brother and setting fire to his home.

According to the family, headed by Peter Mwangi and Jane Muthoni, the suspect, Irene Waithera, reportedly sent threatening texts to her brother for most of Thursday before burning down his home.

Police officers transporting the suspect to the station stated that investigations had begun and no one had been injured.
