A 42-year-old man has been arrested while in possession of 146 kilograms of bhang along the Kisii-Migori highway.
According to reports from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), they had received a tip about the suspect transporting the drugs, which made them mount a roadblock. The driver sped off before officers could search the vehicle, resulting in a high-speed chase.
"Having mounted a roadblock at the Iyabe Bomokora area, the officers intercepted a Toyota Land Cruiser TX http://Reg.No. KDG 508E with two occupants. But whose driver sped off as the officers closed in for a search." said DCI

"The move prompted a hot chase, but not for long, as the Prado got stuck in a ditch, to the disappointment of the determined occupants. Even so, the driver managed to scamper into nearby thickets and holed up." DCI added.
After the chase, the detectives arrested Collins Otieno and recovered six sacks of bhang. The suspect is currently being held at Suneka Police Station for further processing while police hunt for the other suspect.
"Not so lucky though for Collins Otieno, who was cornered and helped to a police car alongside six sacks of bhang that were found stashed in their vehicle. A reflective motor vehicle plate with the number KDL 841X was also found in a carrier bag," said DCI
"The suspect was escorted to Suneka Police Station for further processing, while the seized narcotics and the motor vehicle were detained at Kisii Central Police Station as exhibits." DCI added
