The Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP), aimed at empowering youths with business development skills, business start-up grants, and essential employability skills, has ended since it was started in 2016.

The program was a collaboration between the Kenyan government, the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA), and the World Bank.

The initiative's youths received Kes 20,000 in the first and second tranches, while some did not receive the second tranche before KYEOP closed.

“The final disbursement was carried out between December 2023 and February 29, 2024 when the project ended.”

The project has been running for six years, empowering 97,420 young Kenyans, providing 68,200 youths with essential skills, and supporting numerous business ventures.

Despite the project's conclusion, MSEA has assured continuity of its impact on empowering youths through its successor initiative.

“We extend our gratitude to all beneficiaries and partners who have contributed to the remarkable achievements of KYEOP,” MSEA concluded.

MSEA, however, apologized for the delay in updating the project's beneficiaries on the remaining grants.
