In an effort to address widespread public discontent, President William Ruto has dissolved his Cabinet. On Thursday, the President announced his decision and indicated that he would engage in consultative discussions before forming a new team, though no specific timelines were provided.
The dissolved 22-member Cabinet included three former elected Members of Parliament who had resigned from their posts for their Cabinet roles: 
Aden Duale had vacated his Garissa Township seat, which he had won for the third time with 9,905 votes against his closest competitor Abdulahi Mohamoud, who received 5,509 votes. Kipchumba Murkomen had defended his Elgeyo Marakwet seat against former governor Alex Tolgos, garnering 141,091 votes compared to Tolgos' 20,648.
Murkomen described this victory as his best electoral performance. Alice Wahome, a lawyer, had triumphed over ten contestants to retain her Kandara parliamentary seat in the 2022 elections.

Before the 2022 elections, Duale, Murkomen, and Wahome had left the Jubilee administration and aligned themselves with President Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. They campaigned against the ruling administration, promoting a manifesto focused on uplifting "hustlers" through a bottom-up economic movement.
Duale had previously been removed from his position as National Assembly Majority Leader, and Murkomen had lost his role as Senate Majority Leader, due to significant changes implemented by former President Uhuru Kenyatta's regime.
