Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga has announced that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is prepared to form a government of national unity with the Kenya Kwanza administration to ensure Kenya's stability. Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Sunday, Oburu expressed his support for the younger generation's push for change but criticized the "Ruto must go" calls, warning that they could lead to national chaos.=
Oburu voiced his discomfort with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's potential leadership, citing Gachagua's previous "shareholder" remarks. He argued that ousting President William Ruto would result in Gachagua taking over, which he does not support. He also stated that Azimio affiliate parties unwilling to participate in the proposed dialogue are free to abstain.
The Senator emphasized that ODM has its own interests to pursue, expressing surprise at Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's stance, who had initially supported dialogue. According to Oburu, a unity government would allow all Kenyans to benefit from national resources.
On July 9, during the signing of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) (Amendment) Bill, 2024, President William Ruto announced a six-day multi-sectoral dialogue forum to address pressing national issues. The dialogue, set to begin on Monday, July 15, was endorsed by opposition leader Raila Odinga, who called it "the best way forward out of the crisis we are having today as a country."

"We will give people an opportunity to be heard," Odinga stated, highlighting that the forum would provide a platform for Kenyans to express their grievances and discuss solutions to the country's problems. As of press time, the parties have yet to nominate members for the dialogue committee, which Ruto indicated would include representatives from political parties, religious groups, civil society, employers, and youth organizations.
