The Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) is set to unveil Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Premium Class Coaches to offer customers a luxurious rail travel experience.

In a statement, KRC revealed that it has already received a shipment of four premium coaches out of ten economy-class coaches that will offer passengers an excellent level of comfort.

Further, it stated that for the pleasure and relaxation of the passengers, the fully reclining convertible seats in the luxury coaches will allow them to face any direction while traveling.

“The much-awaited Premium Class Coaches are here. The four Premium Coaches are among a batch of ten economy class coaches, one dining car, one power car and four first class coaches.”

Early this year, the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) increased its charges, requiring users to pay an additional Kes 500 to Kes 1,500 to travel between Nairobi and Mombasa in economy class.

Kenya Railways (KR) stated that a one-way trip from Nairobi to Mombasa on an economy class will go up to Kes1,500 from Kes 1,000 charged before.

First-class users are set to pay Kes 4,500, one way from the previous charges of Kes 3,000 per adult.
