The Evergreen vessel MV Ever Vim docked at the Port of Mombasa on Saturday, July 13, 2024, setting a new efficiency record.
Kenya Ports Authority ( KPA) Managing Director Capt. William Ruto received the vessel carrying over 5500 TEUs, at berth number 22 at 1900 hours.
“In a remarkable feat of productivity, the MV Ever Vim has today completed both discharge and loading cargo operations in less than 47 hours since her arrival.”
Further, he revealed that the vessel discharged 2,301 TEUs and loaded 2,612 TEUs, totaling 4,913 TEUs. The vessel maintained an impressive average of 26 moves per crane per hour throughout the process.
“This achievement sets a new standard for operational excellence. It marks a significant milestone in the history of the Port of Mombasa, solidifying its position as a key global maritime trade hub,” he added.

Additionally, Ruto revealed that the Authority expects container handling at the Port of Mombasa to increase by 200,000 in 2024 to 1.8 million.
He said the growth in 2024 will be the highest in the past three years.
In 2023 the port handled 1.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), an increase from the 1.45 million TEUs recorded in 2022.
He attributed the growth to the port’s modernization efforts and a dedicated workforce, which elevated the port’s operational efficiency.
