Police in Eldoret have successfully recovered 59 stolen motorcycles and 35 engine parts, primarily taken from boda boda operators in Uasin Gishu and neighboring counties.
Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi announced the recovery operation during a press briefing at Eldoret Central Police Station.
The motorcycles were discovered in Kapsoya garages following a tip-off from vigilant community members. Four suspects, including the garage owner, a marketer, and one suspected thief, have been arrested in connection with the theft. They are expected to face charges soon.
According to Mwanthi, the thieves disable the motorcycles' trackers after stealing them. They then interchange chassis numbers and body parts before selling them to unsuspecting buyers.
