President William Ruto has nominated Dorcas Oduor for the Attorney General (AG) position.

Oduor is the Secretary of Public Prosecutions at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and is a High Court advocate. She holds a Master's degree in International Conflict Management, a Bachelor of Law from the University of Nairobi, and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

Oduor's extensive experience at the ODPP includes roles such as Deputy Director, Head of the Economic, International, and Emerging Crimes Department, Deputy Chief State Counsel, and State Counsel at the Office of the Attorney General.

In a communique to the Cabinet, penned by Chief of Staff Felix Koskei, President Ruto praised Oduor, stating, "Senior Counsel Oduor has demonstrated unimpeachable integrity, impressive professional competence, and steadfast commitment to the rule of law. If approved by the National Assembly, Dorcas Agik Oduor will become our nation's first female Attorney-General."

Oduor's nomination follows President Ruto's recent Cabinet reshuffle. After recent anti-government protests, Rebecca Miano, initially picked for the AG role, has been reassigned to the Tourism Ministry.

Miano was selected to succeed former AG Justin Muturi, who was sacked along with the entire Cabinet on July 11, except Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. Muturi has been nominated to replace Moses Kuria as Public Service CS.
