A dramatic incident unfolded at the Vision Beyond Living Gospel Church when Rose Wawira Chomba disrupted her husband's wedding to another woman in Ngurubani, Mwea, Kirinyaga County.
Rose, along with her five children, stormed the church to stop 58-year-old Chomba Njoka Mutambu from marrying Pastor Regina, the officiating pastor.
Rose claimed that she and Chomba were legally married in June 2013 at Kerugoya Parish. "We solemnised our marriage in church according to canonical rules, so I wonder how he is wedding another wife without our knowledge," Rose stated.

Rev. Chomba's wedding to Pastor Regina faced resistance as Rose and her children attempted to halt the ceremony. Security personnel intervened to prevent the disruption, with Peter Macharia Kamau questioning the timing of Rose’s objections. "They had ample time to object during the wedding preparations," Kamau commented.
Rose accused Chomba of abandoning their family and living with Regina. She expressed concerns that her estranged husband intended to sell their land, leaving the family destitute. Lucy Wakuthii, one of Chomba's children, echoed her mother's sentiments, accusing Chomba of neglecting his responsibilities.
"My mother struggled to put us through school. Now, we suspect he wants to marry another woman to sell our land and leave us with nothing," Lucy said.
The situation escalated to the point where Wanguru police officers, led by Mwea East OCPD Patrick Nyaanga, had to intervene. "We received a call from a concerned citizen about a fight in the church," Nyaanga reported.
Local residents expressed shock at the public altercation, labeling it a disgrace. The incident highlights the complexities of family disputes and emotional turmoil in public settings.
