Acting Police Inspector General (IG) Gilbert Masengeli says the National Police Service is ready to ensure peace nationwide as Gen Z protesters prepare for another round of anti-government demonstrations on Thursday.
During a briefing at Embakasi Administration Police Training College (APTC) on Tuesday, Masengeli discussed security measures with regional police chiefs, highlighting that while security will be heightened, it won't be excessively so.
This statement followed deliberations that also covered the operational and logistical challenges faced by officers in their respective jurisdictions, aiming to enhance efficiency within the National Police Service (NPS).

Masengeli reiterated Kenyans' right to demonstrate, picket, and assemble, urging those planning to participate in the protests to adhere to the law. He emphasized respecting each other's rights and abiding by the rule of law in a democratic and constitutional nation.
"On matters 'nanenane' we are just talking about general security," Masengeli said, addressing the upcoming protests.
The meeting also served as Masengeli's first opportunity to interact with his ground commanders. He is working to establish his leadership within the Service before a permanent IG of police is appointed.
Following his appointment two weeks ago, Masengeli currently holds the position of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in charge of the Administration Police Service.
