Businessman and former presidential candidate Jimi Wanjigi's residence on 44 Muthaiga Road, Nairobi, was surrounded by a large contingent of police officers.
The incident has drawn significant attention, with Wanjigi’s son, Maina, and his lawyer, Osiemo, speaking out against what they describe as politically motivated harassment.
Maina Wanjigi, addressing the press, stated that their family is no stranger to such raids, which they believe are a direct response to Wanjigi's outspoken political views. He labeled the incident a "political witch-hunt," suggesting that Wanjigi's recent criticism of the government may have triggered the operation.
"This isn’t the first time we’ve faced such intimidation. Whenever we become a threat, they resort to raids. It’s unfortunate that expressing dissent against the government results in victimization," Maina remarked.

Wanjigi's lawyer, Osiemo, echoed these sentiments, describing the raid as part of a broader pattern of political harassment in Kenya. He refrained from disclosing the Safina Party leader’s current location but emphasized their readiness to handle the situation.
"This is not new; it’s just another form of political intimidation that many Kenyans face, and now it’s Wanjigi’s turn. We are prepared for any outcome, but it’s clear these actions are politically driven," the lawyer asserted.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a suspicious vehicle speeding towards Wanjigi’s home shortly before the police arrived. The car's occupants entered the compound, followed by the arrival of police officers who inspected the vehicle. The search reportedly revealed communication gadgets, grenades, and other items. According to lawyer Osiemo, the vehicle has since been towed to the Nairobi Central Police Station.
