Five members of a family tragically lost their lives in an accident in the Mbaruk area along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway. The victims included a woman and her four sons.

The accident occurred at around 7 a.m. when a Mercedes car, driven by a man identified as Christopher Ambani, collided head-on with a lorry. Ambani was driving towards Nakuru, while the lorry was heading towards Nairobi. Police believe that the deceased were Ambani's family members.

According to Gigil area OCPD Jamlek Ngaruiya, the collision happened because the Mercedes car was overtaking in the wrong lane. "The woman and the children died on the spot, while Ambani was rushed to St. Joseph Hospital, where he was admitted," Ngaruiya said. He added that the police visited the scene and moved the bodies to a morgue in Nakuru.

The lorry driver, Morris Wahome, mentioned that the Mercedes was traveling at high speed. "I had just overtaken and tried to avoid him, but he ended up in the grass on the side of the road where I was," Wahome said, expressing his condolences.

Wahome was on his way to Nairobi, while the Mercedes was traveling in the opposite direction.
