Police have apprehended a suspect believed to be responsible for the death of a General Serice Unit (GSU ) officer in Manyatta slums in Kisumu.
The suspect, Ronald Liwind, was apprehended at his rural home in Asembo, Siaya County, where he had sought refuge after the incident and is being held at Kondele Police Station, where he will be charged with murder.
Police recovered assorted crude weapons, including jungle uniforms.
Authorities are also making efforts to arrest his suspected accomplice, identified as David Nyeuse, who is currently on the run.
The GSU officer, Calvince Omondi, who was based in West Pokot, had returned home as he was off duty.
He was stabbed to death several times in Manyatta on Sunday night under unclear circumstances. Another man who was with him narrowly escaped death but sustained stab wounds from the attackers.
