A middle-aged man killed his two children, aged 10 and 15 years, with a machete in their sleep at their home in Katuliki village, Makueni County, before dying by suicide on Sunday night.
Confirming the incident, Katuliki village Chief Antony Muia revealed that the deceased man has been identified as Muumbi Makato.
He said the deceased had been living alone with the two children, aged 10 and 15 years, after separating from his wife.
“The man attacked his own children as they were sleeping, hacking them to death with a machete.”
The police recovered a bloodied machete at the scene.

The three bodies were moved to the Kilome Nursing Home.
