US rapper Macklemore has announced the cancellation of his upcoming show in Dubai, citing the UAE's involvement in the Sudan conflict as the reason.
The rapper, known for hits like "Thrift Shop," shared the news on social media, emphasizing his decision to stand in solidarity with the people of Sudan.
"Over the last several months, many have reached out, sharing resources and urging me to cancel the show," Macklemore stated. "Until the UAE ceases its support of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), I will not perform there."

The RSF, a paramilitary group, has been engaged in a brutal conflict with the Sudanese army since April 2023. The war, led by Sudan’s de facto leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, has caused widespread devastation.
The Sudanese army has accused the UAE of backing the RSF with financial and military support, a claim that Abu Dhabi strongly denies, labeling it "disinformation." The UAE insists its efforts are focused on de-escalation and humanitarian aid for Sudan.
Macklemore's decision aligns with his history of addressing social and political issues through his music. His latest track, "Hind's Hall," released in May, supports Palestinian rights and praises U.S. student protests against Israel's actions in Gaza.
The song is named after Hind Rajab, a young Palestinian girl who lost her life in Gaza, highlighting Macklemore's ongoing commitment to global humanitarian causes.
