Moi University lecturers have gone on strike, demanding a change in management and that their grievances be addressed.
The academics are now demanding the dissolution of the university's council due to what they call mismanagement.
The dons, led by Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) Moi institution chapter chairman Richard Okero and national trustee Jane Michael, claim that the institution has not repaid their loans to their respective banks in four years, even though they are deducted. They claim their pensions have yet to be remitted.
The academics urge the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to act quickly and investigate the suspected loss of about Ksh.1 billion from the new financing scheme.
The academics have pledged not to return to work until their issues are addressed.
