A family spent Sunday night out in the cold after their home went up in flames in a suspected arson attack in Bureti, Kericho County.

The event occurred at Chebarema village, which is located in Kabartegan. According to family members led by Gideon Koech, the fire started when they were in church.

"The mysterious cause of the fire is yet to be established as we were not at home at the time," Koech informed us.

When villagers spotted a large amount of smoke pouring from the residence, they raised the alarm. This isn't the first instance the family has reported this year.

"My house was torched early this year. Another house under construction was also torched. My parents' house faced a similar fate," Koech lamented.

Members of the public attempted to extinguish the fire but were unable to. No reported injuries occurred.
