A fire has burned down three dormitories at Nyayo Girls Secondary School in Kalama Sub County, Machakos County, causing significant property loss.
Confirming the incident, Lambwa location Senior Chief Douglas Mutavi said there was no casualty since the Sunday night incident occurred when the students were in class for night studies.
Further, Mutavi said nothing was salvaged from the burnt dormitories, forcing over 100 students to sleep in the classes while waiting to be released to go home on Monday.
He revealed that they suspect some girls started the fire and returned to class to conceal their involvement.
Mutavi noted that two girls had already been arrested and were being held at Konza Police Station, even as police commenced investigations into the incident.
