Shortly after the bus attack, the gunmen targeted another vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser, traveling in the same area. The assailants fired on the vehicle, killing one of the passengers. The driver managed to stop the car and escape unharmed.
Moyale police have launched an investigation to apprehend the armed attackers responsible for these incidents.
The Moyale region has been grappling with rising insecurity, prompting residents to call for swift action. Last month, Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli held a security meeting in the area after two South Korean nationals were abducted by armed men at Odda Mission Secondary School on August 12, 2024.
During the meeting, Masengeli urged local police to collaborate with the community to address security concerns, encouraging residents to share information that could lead to the arrest of the assailants.
